About: The Chat

The Chat is a children’s book that has been written to help fathers have the all important ‘sex chat’ with their sons. It is a brilliant Christian resource that acts as a conversation starter.  The book is split into two sections; the first portion helping fathers to prepare themselves for the conversation, whilst section 2 (dedicated for both fathers and sons) is brilliantly illustrated to engage young boys. The Chat discusses the pertinent issues of sex, puberty, pornography and gender.

The Chat is unapologetically Bible based and is written to be read interactively so as to strengthen the bonds between parent and child.

“The CHAT is a phenomenal resource! It has helped me frame a shame-free conversation with my son. I strongly recommend this book for fathers with preteen boys.”

Nathan Mclean (Hillsong Church, Australia)

“In all my years of Children’s Ministry I have not come across a resource as good as this to help families approach the subject of sex. I love how Joel has both helped deal with the parent’s potential challenges in themselves around this subject before equipping them to speak to the kids. On a personal level this book is about 6 weeks late for me and my 9 year old son’s awkward chat but it will be a very valuable resource in my household moving forward with 2 more boys. Beyond my personal world, I can’t wait to share this with the wider church and highly recommend to parents, pastors and children’s ministries who are looking to help families, whether their own or others through this delicate conversation.”
